Do Torque Wrenches Work in Reverse?

Do Torque Wrenches Work in Reverse?

It was always my understanding that a torque wrench regardless of brand will work both forward and reverse...and that's where everyone under the same understanding couldn't be more wrong. Unless otherwise specified, a torque wrench only works in ONE direction and that's righty-tighty.

How do you reverse the direction of a torque wrench?

Turn the dial to raise or lower the torque setting on the wrench. With the tightener loosened, brace the body of the wrench with your nondominant hand. Turn the handle clockwise to raise it, or counterclockwise to lower it.

Can you use a torque wrench counter clockwise?

Make sure it can go counterclockwise

Many torque tools only turn in a clockwise manner. You should always check your wrench's specifications before you try to turn it counterclockwise. If the tool isn't designed to work that way, turning it in the wrong direction can lead to a loss of torque control.
