Earth sciences: Seismology and the structure of Earth

How were the discontinuities discovered?
The Mohorovicic Discontinuity is the boundary between the earth's crust and mantle. It was discovered by the refraction of seismic waves passing from one layer to the other.
Who invented Mohorovičić discontinuity and in which year?
History. Croatian seismologist Andrija Mohorovičić is credited with first discovering and defining the Moho. In 1909, he was examining data from a local earthquake in Zagreb when he observed two distinct sets of P-waves and S-waves propagating out from the focus of the earthquake.
