Neurons. Neurons, or nerve cells, carry out the functions of the nervous system by conducting nerve impulses. They are highly specialized and amitotic. This means that if a neuron is destroyed, it cannot be replaced because neurons do not go through mitosis.
What cell does amitosis occur in?
spore mother cells. Amitosis is a method of direct cell division in which the nucleus divides into two daughter nuclei without showing differentiation of chromosomes and development of spindle. It is commonly seen in prokaryotes.
Are bone cells amitotic?
Bone cells are highly specialized cells, and it is probable that this specialization does influence amitosis.
