Postmark is an official mark stamped on letters, package, postcard and other mail, serving as a cancellation of the postage stamp and indicating the date and time the item was delivered into the care of the postal service.
Is postmarked by the due date?
Your return is considered filed on time if the envelope is properly addressed, has enough postage, is postmarked, and is deposited in the mail by the due date.
Is mail postmarked the same day?
The USPS only postmarks certain mail depending on the type of postage, and they may not postmark mail the same day you delivered it. If we receive a payment without a USPS postmark, we will consider it received on the date it physically comes into our office.
