The 6th Grade STAAR Test is an exam administered to all 6th graders attending public school in the State of Texas. The test determines academic ability, and can influence a student's future academic success throughout the State, and even the country.
Do you have to pass the STAAR test in 6th grade?
Federal and state law mandate that students in grades three through 12 take the STAAR exams, and in some cases how they do determines if they graduate or move up to the next grade. Texas has said fifth and eighth grade students who don't pass required STAAR exams this year may move up to the next grades.
Can 6th graders use a calculator on the STAAR test?
Calculators are not permitted for students taking the STAAR grades 3–7 mathematics assessments or the STAAR grade 5 science assessment unless the student meets the eligibility criteria for an accommodation.
