What Do Toads Eat?

Like frogs, most toads eat insects and other arthropods. However, some species eat reptiles, small mammals, and even other amphibians. Each species of toad has a unique call.

What can I feed a toad?

Toads will eat most insects and prey they find in your garden. It is safe to feed toads crickets, flies, spiders and worms. Tadpoles and juveniles eat every day compared to adults who eat three times a week. They should not be fed seasoned meat, salt, sugar, processed food or pesticides.

Do toads need water?

The animals we call toads generally have bumpy skin and spend more time on land. Toads do need a ready source of water—not to swim in, just for a daily soak. Your garden will be most appealing to toads if you put a mini-pool near a toad abode.
