The FMCSA requires all interstate carriers to file a MCS-150 or MCS-150B, if a Safety permit is required, every 24 months based on the last two digits of the US DOT number. The last digit of the number dictates the month and the second to last digit dictates the year.
When should I update my MCS-150?
The biennial update is a requirement set by the FMCSA to update your MCS-150 Form (also called the Motor Carrier Identification Report) every two years, keep in mind some states actually require you to update it every year as part of renewing your truck/fleet registration.
Is my biennial update due?
You must complete your biennial update every two years. The month in which your update is due will depend on the last digit of your USDOT number. If your USDOT number ends in 1, for example, your update is due in January. ... If your next-to-last digit is even, you will complete your biennial update in even-numbered years.
