Leipzig is one of the greenest cities in Germany with many beautiful parks in the city itself. The city's old industrial canals and nearby lake district also provide ample opportunity for fans of canoeing or water sports like surfing. Moreover, there's plenty of nature to discover in the greater Leipzig Region.
Is Leipzig a rich city?
Leipzig was historically one of Germany's wealthiest cities and a hub for arts and culture (as you get with most wealthy cities) but following World War II, and the subsequent separation of Germany into East and West Germany, rapidly declined in both wealth and importance.
Which is better Dresden or Leipzig?
I have been to both, and while Leipzig is has its architectural delights in such buildings as the Altes Rathaus and the Opernhaus, Dresden is hands down the more beautiful city of the two for me. The centre has been meticulously reconstructed from the ruins of WWII. Its position on the River Elbe is beautiful.
