Can Rabbits Be Vicious?

We usually think of rabbits as cute and cuddly, but they can also be aggressive fighters, attacking each other or even us. Sadly, countless rabbits are rehomed or neglected because they are considered aggressive. The truth is that aggression can usually be rectified.

Will a rabbit attack you?

It is very rare for a wild rabbit to attack a human. Their first instinct is always to run away from danger, so a wild rabbit will only attack a human if they feel cornered, or if they feel that their home is in danger (for European rabbits).

Why is my rabbit aggressive?

The most common cause of aggression in rabbits is the hormones that drive them to compete for territory and protect their home from invaders. The arrival of sexual maturity, usually between 3-9 months, can trigger what seems like a complete personality change, turning a friendly baby rabbit into an aggressive teenager.
