Should you tamp down grass seed?
Fill a lawn roller with water or sand to add weight, then go over the top of the area to tamp the seed down. This will help with erosion and will keep the birds from eating the seed. If you live on a slope, you may want to use a seed mat to prevent the seed from washing away.
Will grass seed grow if you just throw it on the ground?
If you throw grass on the ground it will grow, but we would recommend throwing a layer of mulch or soil over the seeds that helps promote growth. Bermuda seed needs to be covered to germinate.
