Army Officer Candidate School
Officer Candidate School is a rigorous 12-week program to determine your mental, physical and emotional potential as a leader. The Army is the only branch of the military that requires potential officers planning to attend OCS to first enlist and attend basic combat training.
Where do OCS candidates go to basic training?
Candidates spend three months at Fort Benning, Georgia, where they study and train before they assume command over soldiers. OCS is designed to provide a framework for a soldier's role as a unit commander.
Do Marine OCS candidates go to basic training?
The mission of OCS is to train, screen and evaluate candidates, who must show high leadership potential and commitment. Regardless of the which route is taken, after being commissioned you will attend The Basic School (TBS).
