The Army's Reenlistment Opportunity Window (ROW)–the time or “window” qualified Soldiers can reenlist–opens 15-months from your ETS and closes at your ETS! Unless your ETS is October 1, 2021 (Fiscal Year or FY22) or later!

How long before my ETS date can I reenlist?

Soldiers can no longer reenlist up until the day prior to his/her ETS. In accordance to AR 140-111, Chapter 8, para 8-16, reenlistments are not authorized when Soldiers are less than 3 months from ETS without prior approval from the Chief, Retention & Reclassification Branch, HRC.

How early can you reenlist?

One of the main guidelines is the Reenlistment Opportunity Window (ROW). A Soldier's individual ROW opens 15 months prior to their contractual ETS date, and continues through 90 days prior to their ETS. However, the previous 90–day window restriction has been suspended and may be reinstated without future notice.
