Using a stomp pad for your snowboard is a personal choice—that’s the way we see it at Never Summer. When snowboards had slick gloss top-sheets, stomp pads were much more necessary. Nowadays, with Never Summer boards having textured top-sheets (like our Carbonium) stomp pads aren’t nearly as necessary.
Where do you place a stomp pad on a snowboard?
You want to install your stomp pad as close to your back binding as you can – this will make it feel as close to your normal stance as you can make it. And it will also mean that you can lean your boot against the binding for extra stability. Make sure that you position the stomp pad on the inside of the back binding.
Are stomp pads only for beginners?
For beginners, they are beneficial as they provide gripping and stability; some people even see stomp pads as a piece of equipment that is just for beginners. But if you feel comfortable having a stomp pad attached to your board, go for it as they make snowboarding easier.
Can you reuse stomp pad?
Note that if you do like to adjust your stance to make sure to not stick the stomp pad where it might hinder you moving your binding. Otherwise you might have to remove your stomp pad and purchase a new one because you can’t reuse it. Once you have chosen your location press down all parts of the pad with your fingers.
Do you need to wax a new snowboard?
A common question that new riders often ask is: Do you need to wax a new snowboard? And in general, the answer is “no.” The tune that a snowboard receives at the end of the manufacturing process (often called the “factory tune”) is good enough for most riders.
Do pros use stomp pads?

Do you wax the top of a snowboard?
You should wax the tip and tail, but only with a little bit of wax. This is because the tip and tail is hard to scrape, your tips don’t not get as much wear on the snow as the middle and you’ll get a build of gunk and wax. When you get a build up of wax on your tips it will make the board look super dirty.
What kind of wax is used for snowboards?
Warm rated (Red or Yellow) hydrocarbon is best above 25 F. It is a great wax to ski on but is also used for conditioning a new base and is the best wax for hot-wax-scrape-cleaning. Cold rated (Green or Blue) hydrocarbon is best below 25 F.
How do you wax your own snowboard?
Loosen/remove the bindings. Before the iron goes anywhere near your base, make sure to loosen off or fully remove your bindings. Clean the base. Pick your wax. Melt the wax. Iron the base. Let the wax cool. Get scraping. Check your edges.
How do you reattach a stomp pad?
Grab the unstuck flap of the pad and peel it off as far as possible so that you can access the underside of the pad and the part of the board the pad will cover. Brush a thin layer of glue on both surfaces. Continue to hold the pad back while the glue dries—this takes around five minutes.
