AZEK is a low-maintenance outdoor building material. AZEK is best known for their PVC decking boards but they also make railing, trim, molding, and even pavers. Whereas wood requires maintenance on a fairly regular basis, AZEK synthetic decking won’t ever need annual maintenance.
What is AZEK board made of?
AZEK decks are made from polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, which is the same material used in vinyl siding. AZEK decking is known for its exceptional strength, durability, and low maintenance. Since it doesn’t contain any wood or wood by-products, AZEK boards don’t absorb moisture that can cause wooden boards to warp or rot.

Can AZEK be stained?
We do not recommend painting or staining TimberTech Azek decking. We cannot guarantee the performance of paint, stain, or other materials, applied to the product.
Does AZEK look like wood?

Does AZEK absorb water?
Azek decking is made of a cellular PVC material which is basically plastic. Because the core contains no wood fibers, it won’t absorb moisture or be susceptible to rot.
Can azek have ground contact?
Suitable for ground contact applications. UV protection inside and out. Does not require paint for protection but easily accepts paint. Same color, look, feel and durability as AZEK Trim.
Who makes AZEK decking?
TimberTech will now be the umbrella brand for all decking, railing, porch, paver, fastening and lighting products. The trim and moulding business will be positioned under the newly branded AZEK® Exteriors. TimberTech’s decking portfolio includes: TimberTech AZEK™, TimberTech PRO™ and TimberTech EDGE™.
Does AZEK crack?

AZEK TimberTech® decking products will not blister, peel, flake, crack, split, or rot for 20 years. However, careful maintenance is required to ensure the deck will last – or certain damage may occur.
Is AZEK PVC or composite?
AZEK is a PVC product and will have a different feel and look to it then Trex, which is a capped composite. AZEK will be much lighter in weight and feel slightly different under your feet. The sheen is also different between the two — AZEK has a glossier sheen than Trex’s capped composites.
What color is AZEK?
No way to get around this one: Azek only comes in white, and it is flat. So if you are looking for a different color or sheen, you have no choice but to paint. Azek maintains that it does not require painting for a maintenance free product and we agree.
How strong is AZEK?
For example, 1/2-inch-thick Azek has a compressive strength of about 1,000 pounds per square inch, which is much less than the compressive strength of wood.
Can AZEK be painted?
Yes, Azek accepts and holds paint pretty well. However, if you choose to paint Azek a custom color, you must use 100 acrylic latex paint with a color bearing a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 55 or higher.
