How far can a parallam beam span?
* The span and load tables in this guide cover beam spans up to 60 feet; however, 2.2E Parallam® PSL beams can be delivered in lengths up to 66 feet.
Is parallam a glulam?
Parallam PSL is ideal for beams, headers and columns and reduces the need for special design and installation consideration common to a non-homogenous glulam beam product. It is manufactured straight and true with uniformity and predictability.
How is parallam made?
Manufactured in Delta, British Columbia and Buckhannon, West Virginia, Parallam is made primarily from Douglas fir in the west and yellow poplar/southern yellow pine in the east. Once harvested, the logs are debarked and peeled into veneers from which they are cut into strands.
Who makes parallam?

Is glulam the same as LVL?
A glulam beam looks like a stack of 2 x 4s (or larger lumber) glued together on their broadsides. This is in contrast to other engineered members, such as LVL (laminated veneer lumber) and Microlam beams, which look like very thick plywood, with very thin layers of wood glued together to form a thicker mass.
What’s stronger glulam or LVL?
The laminated beam is stronger but more expensive and used when bigger cross-sections are required. Generally made from hardwood, rather than the lvl softwood.
How is PSL manufactured?
How is PSL made? PSL is made from strands bonding together in a continuous press using waterproof adhesives with a phenol-formaldehyde base. It can made using waste materials from plywood and LVL production, with species commonly including Douglas-fir, pine and western hemlock, among others.
