What is a slip roll former?

Slip roll former. [click image to enlarge] The slip roll former in Figure 4-60 is manually operated and consists of three rolls, two housings, a base, and a handle. The handle turns the two front rolls through a system of gears enclosed in the housing. The front rolls serve as feeding, or gripping, rolls.

When using a slip roll How can you change the radius of the bend being made?

Turn the radius adjust knobs to lift the rear roler until the desired radius bend is reached (figure 19). Make sure t turn the knobs equal amounts so the rear roller is always parallel with the other rollers. Failure to do so will create a larger radius on one end than the other, resulting in a cone shape.
