There are two ways to add a device to the mesh: Easiest: Connect the new device by cable to an Ethernet port (you can also use the network port on one of the other devices) before starting it up. The access point will automatically add itself to the mesh network (this will take a few minutes).

Yes it can. You are going to like this wifi extender. It has a very good range with out being hardwired to your router. Once you connect to a port (make sure you use a CAT7 cable or better) on it from your router you can set it up as a access point if you like.
