Cystometrogram

Cystometrogram

The Cystometrogram measures the volume of urine a patient’s bladder can hold, how full the bladder is when the patient feels the urge to urinate, and the pressure of the flow of urine. The test is performed by emptying the bladder completely by way of a catheter, then filling it back up again with warm, sterile water.

Does a Cystometrogram hurt?

While you might feel the catheter being inserted into the urethra, the test does not hurt. A catheter is a small and flexible tube. During a cystometric test, a manometer can measure the pressure at the point of leakage if the bladder contracts when the bladder is being filled for the cystometrogram.

What are the phases of Cystometrogram?

The normal cystometrogram curve has two phases: a filling phase, including all normal parameters during the storage phase (first sensation, detrusor function, bladder compliance, and capacity) and a voiding phase on pressure flow study.

How long does a Cystometrogram take?

Cystometrogram Procedure

What is a simple Cystometrogram?

51725 Simple cystometrogram (CMG) (eg, spinal manometer) simply regards placing a small catheter in the bladder and filling the bladder up by gravity and then measuring not only bladder capacity, but overall bladder storage pressures (as compared to emptying pressures which are not measured with this study.)

Can you drive home after a flexible cystoscopy?

You can go home once you’re feeling better and you’ve emptied your bladder. Most people leave hospital the same day, but sometimes an overnight stay might be needed. You’ll need to arrange for someone to take you home as you will not be able to drive for at least 24 hours.
