What product is comparable to Waterlox?
Linseed and tung oils will provide you with a lusterous repairable finish that won’t be as durable or water resistant. You will need to re-apply these with some sort of regularity. From what I undersand, Pratt and Lambert 38 is a comparable quality finish with respect to durability.
Is Waterlox better than tung oil?
While Waterlox Original Tung oil finishes contain a superior drying oil, namely Tung Oil, they are fully cooked varnishes, which dry quicker and form permanent films tough enough to walk on and take daily abuse. Waterlox Original Tung oil finishes are also water and chemical resistant (alcohol and alkali).

Is Watco like Waterlox?

Do you sand between coats of Waterlox?
Sanding for adhesion purposes is not required between coats of Waterlox Original Tung oil finishes. This makes Waterlox unique and different from most surface finishes which need abrasion for inter-coat adhesion.
Does Waterlox yellow?
Unlike linseed oil-based polyurethanes, our URETHANE formula will not yellow over time. Excellent water resistance. Non-toxic when dry and fully cured.
Is Waterlox better than polyurethane?
While urethanes surfaces are slightly harder; Waterlox forms an elastic, protective finish that won’t chip, peel crack or wrinkle. Waterlox literally locks out water, with a formula that relies on a unique of combination of resins and the penetrating, sealing advantages of tung oil.
Is Watco butcher block oil waterproof?
Bottom line. The wood is totally waterproof. The water just beads up on top. Now I am not planning to just leave water puddling on top for days or weeks, but I do think that if you just wipe off any excess water after doing dishes this product is excellent.

Waterlox ORIGINAL products are compatible with 100% PURE Tung Oil; provided the PURE Tung Oil has been applied and cured for over 30 days.
Can you use Waterlox over Danish oil?
Danish Oil
Essentially it is a drying oil with a small amount of resin (the varnish) added to help drying and build. Treat it the same as the drying oil section (above). You could potentially use Danish oil over Waterlox penetrating finishes, but it is not recommended.
Will tung oil waterproof wood?

Tung oil is waterproof and helps to protect furniture and other woodworks from water droplets and moisture. It works as a water-resistant coating on top of the wooden surface and prevents water molecules and moisture from going inside of the wood.
