To determine its end behavior, look at the leading term of the polynomial function. Because the power of the leading term is the highest, that term will grow significantly faster than the other terms as x gets very large or very small, so its behavior will dominate the graph.
How do you describe the end behavior of a rational function?
End Behavior: The end behavior of a graph of a function is how the graph behaves as x approaches infinity or negative infinity. The end behavior of a function is equal to its horizontal asymptotes, slant/oblique asymptotes, or the quotient found when long dividing the polynomials.
What are the left and right end behaviors of this exponential function?
The end behavior of the parent function is consistent. – if b > 1 (increasing function), the left side of the graph approaches a y-value of 0, and the right side approaches positive infinity.
How do you tell if an exponential function is increasing or decreasing?
Assuming a>0, If b>1, f(x) is an increasing function. If 0
What is the end behavior of a logarithmic function?
End Behavior of Logarithmic Functions. The end behavior of a logarithmic graph also depends upon whether you are dealing with the parent function or with one of its transformations. • The end behavior of the parent function is consistent. As x approaches infinity, the y-values slowly get larger, approaching infinity.
How about the end behaviors of the graphs of polynomial function with odd degree?
End Behavior of a Polynomial Function
If the degree is even and the lead coefficient is negative, then both ends of the polynomial’s graph will point down. If the degree is odd and the lead coefficient is positive, then the right end of the graph will point up and the left end of the graph will point down.
What is the end behavior of a square root function?
The square root function f(x)=√x has domain [0,+∞) and the end behaviour is. as x→0 , f(x)→0.
