A clogged aerator will increase the water pressure coming from your hot water tap and causes cloudy-looking air bubbles to form. You can give the aerator a clean with a mixture of one part vinegar, one part water and soak it over night. Rinse the aerator with water the next morning and reinstall it.
Is cloudy hot water safe?
When you turn on a faucet and milky-white water comes out, you may be justifiably concerned about what’s going on and whether the water is safe to drink. There are a couple of possible reasons why you have cloudy tap water, but the good news is, it doesn’t usually pose a health risk.
Why is the hot water white and cloudy?
Water can sometimes appear milky or cloudy, because it contains tiny bubbles of air. Air is dissolved under pressure and when you run the tap, the air is released as millions of tiny bubbles.
Why is my hot water cloudy then clear?
Not only do minerals become trapped in water, but a wide range of gasses can also be trapped. These tiny air bubbles are the primary reason your water is white or cloudy as it comes out of the faucet. As your water heater runs, the molecules in the water expand and trap any other gasses due to pressure.
Why is my hot water cloudy and smells?
This smell is typically caused by sulfate bacteria that can develop within the tank. This issue usually happens when warm water is left too long in the tank and bacteria builds up in the water. This problem can also happen if you have well water and are not treating the water with chlorine in the well.
Why is my hot water brown and cold water clear?
