Most all the hinges come standard with removable pins. Non removable pin hinges are available with almost any Emtek or PHG hinge upon request. They do cost a few dollars more, but we can easily order them for you if you need.
How do I know if my door hinge pin is removable?
Resolution: The NRP option will be identified by a small hole with a set screw on the side of the knuckle. The screw will be hidden when the door is closed. If there is no hole with a set screw, then the pin can be removed.
How do non-removable hinge pins work?
Non-removable pins are another security feature on butt hinges. Again, the term is pretty self-explanatory. The pin cannot be removed from the barrel. In order to remove the door from the opening, the barrel would have to be cut off of the hinge.
Why do door hinge pins come out?
Over time, the weight of a door can cause screws to pull out of their holes and make the hinges loose. Hinge pins that are not fully inserted into the hinge barrel will work their way up out of the hinge and fall onto the floor, resulting in a broken door hinge.
How do you remove a Baldwin hinge pin?
A few easy steps and your door hinge is ready for use, simply remove and replace the existing pin by unthreading the finials on either side of your hinge and tapping the pin upward from the bottom. Slide in the new pin, re-thread the finials, and your hinge is ready to be installed.
