Can spax screws be used outside?
Spax screws feature a countersunk multi-head and a 4 point tip that takes immediate hold which means that no pre-drilling is required, even in hardwood. The Spax woodscrew is suitable for both interior and exterior projects.
Do I need to pre drill for spax screws?
No pre-drilling is referencing application with hardwoods — not concrete. Concrete applications for our multi-material fasteners require pre-drilling with a carbide bit before installing the SPAX® fastener.

Is Spax a Torx?
Be careful ordering because right now only some of the Spax items are Torx, most are the Phillips/Robertson Quadrex. I’ve used the Quadrex for years with square drive bits, and they are good, but I’d be happy to make the transition to Torx.
