Industrial pollution of the environment is of four types: air, water, land and noise. Air pollution is caused by smoke released by chemical and paper factories, brick kilns, refineries and smelting plants, and burning of fossil fuels in factories ignoring pollution norms.
What are 3 ways that industry can harm the environment?
How Can Factories Affect The Environment?
Global Warming. As we touched on earlier, a huge portion of climate change or global warming can be attributed to our reliance on industrial activities over the years. Air Pollution. Water Pollution. Soil Pollution. Our Own Health. The Destruction of Wildlife.
What is industry pollution?
Pollution whose source originates directly from industry is known as industrial pollution. After the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing and technology made advances, which resulted in more factories and more industry. These factories emitted smoke into the air.
How do industries pollute air and water Explain with examples?
Industrial pollution degrades the environment in the following ways: (i) Air is polluted by the gases. (ii) Dust, fume, mist, spray and smoke contain particles. (iii) Industrial effluents pollute rivers.
What 3 industries pollute the most?
Top 5 Polluting Industries
Energy. It should not surprise any of us that the energy industry makes it to the top of this list. Transport. Transport contributes over 20% of carbon emissions. Agriculture. We rely mainly on agriculture for food. Fashion Industry. Food Retail.
How does industry affect the environment?
Industrial factories are major contributors to air pollution. The amount of toxic gases that factories release into the air increases health and environmental damages. In factories, toxic materials and gases, like carbon dioxide and methane, are burned and pumped out into the atmosphere.
How does industries cause global warming?
Industry (24% of 2020 greenhouse gas emissions) – Greenhouse gas emissions from industry primarily come from burning fossil fuels for energy, as well as greenhouse gas emissions from certain chemical reactions necessary to produce goods from raw materials.
How does the industry pollute the environment explain with three examples?
Smoke is emitted by chemical and paper factories, brick kilns, refineries and smelting plants, and burning of fossil fuels in big and small factories. (ii) Water pollution is caused by organic and inorganic industrial wastes and affluents discharged into rivers.
How do industries pollute water resources?
Industries discharge chemical wastes comprising substances called effluents in rivers, lakes, streams etc. Factories sometimes turn waterways into open sewers by dumping oil, toxic chemicals and other harmful liquids called effluents into them.
How do industries pollute the environment discuss the steps to be taken to Minimise environmental degradation by industries?
Discuss the steps to be taken to minimise environmental degradation by industry.
Treating effluents and hot water before releasing them in ponds and rivers.By recycling and reusing water in two or more stages, water usage can be minimised. To meet water requirements, it is important to carry out rainwater harvesting.
What industries cause air pollution?
The number one source of outdoor air pollution is the burning of fossil fuels, primarily by motor vehicles. However, manufacturing industries, mining, and coal- and gas-fired power stations are also responsible for polluting the atmosphere.
What is the biggest pollution industry?
1. Energy. No big surprise that the production of energy makes up one of the biggest industrial contributions to carbon emissions. Collectively making up 28% of the United States Greenhouse Gas contributions.
Which industries cause water pollution?
GPIs are industries that discharge more than 1,00,000 litres of wastewater and/or hazardous chemicals into the rivers, and include pulp and paper mills, distilleries, sugar mills, textile units, tanneries, thermal power plants, the food, dairy and beverage industries, chemical units, slaughterhouses, etc.
