Resetti, the angry mole who would shout and threaten to delete your game for resetting, is now completely optional. The reason? He makes little girls cry. In the latest Iwata Asks, the team explains why they had some reservations about putting Resetti in the game.
Why was Resetti removed?
In an interview with Mashable during E3 2019, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ project lead Aya Kyogoku officially announced that Mr. Resetti lost his job at the Reset Surveillance Center due to the upcoming Switch title’s new auto-save function.
Is Mr. Resetti in New Horizons?
Resetti is finally back in Animal Crossing, but still not in his old role. When New Horizons added The Roost, NPCs began randomly popping into the shop to for a quick coffee break. And yes, that included Resetti. In addition to his random visits, players can now invite him with his Amiibo.
Why is Mr. Resetti not in New Horizons?
Due to the auto-save function on the Nintendo Switch, Mr. Resetti does not return to the same role in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but is running the new in-game rescue service as the operator. He also appears on the communications error screen.
