While there are many types of foundations out there, the Casper Foundation provides excellent support under any Casper mattress and can be assembled in minutes. Engineered with solid wood, the foundation has been rigorously tested for durability and proven to stand up to years of sleep.

Can you use a boxspring with a Casper?
The Casper Foundation works like a standard box spring — meaning you can put it on an existing bed frame or platform base. Of course, we recommend pairing your foundation with Casper’s metal bed frame that seamlessly lifts the foundation and mattress off the ground!
Can I put a Casper mattress on the floor?
Casper mattresses, many of which are designed with foam layers, are crafted with high-quality construction and ultimate comfort in mind. Therefore, we don’t recommend placing your Casper mattress on the floor. Instead, check out our Casper Foundation or Platform Bed to properly support and extend the life of your bed.
Can you put a Casper on the floor?
We don’t recommend putting the Casper foundation directly on the floor. The chambray upholstering that covers the foundation’s sides is not designed for it. Doing so can cause unsightly wear and we want your Casper bed set to stay in perfect condition — and be eligible for warranty.

While a hybrid mattress has a spring coil base, its foam form requires a more supportive mattress foundation. It’s optimal to place these types of mattresses on a foundation with wooden boards or closely positioned slats, such as a solid or slatted foundation.

The boxspring fulfills three needs: To raise the mattress higher off the ground so you’re not stuck in your bed like a turtle on its back. To absorb impact and reduce the wear on the mattress. To give the mattress a strong, flat surface to sit on.
What is a low profile foundation for a bed?
A low profile foundation typically measures 4-5 inches whereas a regular foundation is 9 inches or more. This is a big help when your mattress can measure as tall as 18 inches!

If you are thinking of using a Casper bed in a vacation or guest home, we encourage you to try it in your home base first. That way, you can be sure that it’s a good fit. Our mattresses can be kept in the box for up to three months without risking its structural integrity.
Is a bunkie board the same as a box spring?
A box spring looks more like a piece of furniture. It’s around 6” tall and can offer minimal support needed for a mattress. A bunkie board can be used with a box spring or older foundation or platform bed to ensure that it’s able to properly support the weight of a newer foam mattress.
Is it OK to sleep without a bed frame?
Sleeping without a bed frame is possible but you’ll need to take some precautions. Before putting your mattress directly on the floor, vacuum, and mop the area or use a carpet cleaner. Consider putting the mattress on a nonslip mat or rug.
