Do Safeway gift cards need to be activated?
Protect your Card like cash. The value remaining on the Card cannot be replaced if the Card is lost, stolen, damaged or used without your consent. Card is not redeemable for cash except where required by law. Cards are not activated until payment is received.
How can I check the balance on my Safeway gift card?
You can check Safeway gift card balance online on our website or call Safeway at 1-800-229-5855. You can also visit any Safeway store and inquire a cashier to check the balance for you.
Can I use a Safeway gift card at Starbucks?
The Starbucks kiosk doesn’t take gift cards currently. Safeway Gift Cards can also be used at any store location owned by Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons Companies. They can be used at all store locations across the US and Canada regardless of where they were purchased.
Can I use a Safeway gift card at Kroger?
A. No. All King Soopers, Safeway, City Markets and Kroger stores and gas stations across the U.S. will accept this card! On the back of the card, in fine print, is a full list of participating stores.
Can I use my Safeway gift card at Chevron?
The cards can be used at all Chevron or Texaco locations to purchase any of their offerings, including gas, snacks and services.
How do I activate my gift card?
Take the gift card to the cashier and say the amount that you want to load onto the card if it doesn’t have a set amount specified. The cashier will load and activate the gift card as you purchase it. If you have any questions about the terms and conditions, or the expiry date of the gift card, ask the cashier.
Do Safeway gift cards expire?
Card may be used multiple times until value is depleted and cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law. Funds will not be replaced on lost/stolen cards and Safeway Gift Card LLC is not responsible for use of card without your knowledge. Card does not expire and has no fees.
Can Safeway gift cards be used for delivery?
Cash, our gift cards, Safeway Pay, personal checks, and other charge accounts are currently not accepted for online orders.
Can I check my gift card balance online?
To check the balance on a gift card, go to the website listed on the back of the card. Then, enter the relevant information, such as your card’s number and the expiration date. Next, click “Submit,” and view your balance on the next page.
How do I check my gift card balance?

What Can You Use Safeway Gift Cards For? A Gift Card or money order/transfer can only be used to purchase merchandise at the stores listed on the card, non-merchandise purchases (such as gift cards, lottery tickets, money orders) are not accepted.
Can you use Safeway gift cards Instacart?
Yes, a Safeway club card can make purchases through the Instacart app. The only limitation is that you cannot use it on alcohol or tobacco products in some states.
Can I use a Safeway gift card to buy a visa gift card?
Since there is no federal or state law dictating whether or not you can buy a gift card with a gift card, companies get to decide if they will allow consumers to use gift cards in their stores to buy other gift cards–that includes buying the same brand card or a third-party card.

Safeway is not owned by Kroger, but is a subsidiary company to Albertsons Companies. The former CEO of Kroger switched positions to Safeway as CEO which resulted in the confusion of whether or not Kroger acquired Safeway as a company.
Can you use Safeway card at King Soopers?
All you have to do is load your King Soopers and/or Safeway gift card at customer service or the register before you scan your first item. You can use the gift cards for groceries and at King Soopers/Safeway Fuel Centers.
Does Kroger charge a fee for gift cards?
However, at the Kroger Family of Stores you won’t pay fees on any third-party gift cards. You’ll also get added benefits such as Fuel Points when you buy many gift cards.
