For many years Moen tub/shower valves have been manufactured using one of three valves. These valves are Standard, Posi-Temp and Moentrol. Although the look is similar, the trim is not necessarily interchangeable.

What is the difference between Moen PosiTemp and Moentrol?

The PosiTemp doesn’t have Temperature Memory. The handle goes from one side to the other always going from cold to hot from the off position. The Moentrol Valve has volume control which controls the water flow rate so you get the amount of water you want at the temperature you desire.

How does the Moen Posi Temp valve work?

Behind the handle of a Moen PosiTemp tub and shower faucet are built-in stops that limit how far the handle can turn. By controlling the turning range of the handle on a Moen PosiTemp valve, these temperature limit stops restrict the water temperature range, meaning it cannot get too hot or too cold.

What is the difference between Moen 2510 and 2590?

2590: This model. 2510: IPS connections, no stops. 2520: Sweat (CC) connections, no stops. 2570: Sweat (CC) connections, with stops.

Is Stanadyne the same as Moen?

There is absolutely NO difference between the Moen 1222 vs 1222B replacement cartridges. They are both the replacement part cartridge for the Posi Temp Moen shower valve. They are made from the same parts, the only difference is their packaging and model number. The “B” in the 1222B model number stands for Bulk.
