My Power Homeschool (Acellus) Review

Overall I do recommend this program, especially for high school age because of the power of video for harder subjects like math. I would caution the use of it without supplements for elementary age kids.

What is the difference between acellus Academy and power homeschool?

Acellus Academy is an online home school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Power Homeschool is a courseware delivery tool which provides online courseware to students being homeschool by their parents, and as such, is not accredited.

How does power homeschool work?

Power Homeschool is a program intended to aid parents in homeschooling their student. Parents may choose up to 7 courses at a time from numerous courses (grades PreK-12). Students are able to learn at their own pace under the supervision and assistance of their parent.

If a student fails a step (scores lower than 70%) Acellus will automatically have them retake it. (Students who fail an exam more than 5 times will be moved forward, the system counting the most recent grade.) If needed, students may cancel the retake step once selected.

Is acellus easy?

Acellus is easy to use due to its simplistic and very outdated user interface. You are able to work at your own pace while still keeping track of how much progress you have left. Cons: To begin with, you will not receive a transcript until you complete at least one of your courses.
