Is MAPEI AquaDefense good?

Highly recommended! Great product used to seal installation of tiled walk-in shower. This liquid membrane worked perfectly by applying with paint brush and curing within 2 hours.

Can I use AquaDefense on drywall?

Yes . aquadefense does stick better in tests areas and during second conversation with mapei been told that accualy priming with primer G diluted 1:1 with water may help adhesion.

How thick should AquaDefense be?

The final thickness of the two coats of Mapelastic AquaDefense must be at least 0.8 mm in order to create a robust, flexible and continuous film. Make sure there are no interruptions in the film caused by imperfections in the substrate.

How thick is AquaDefense?

Can MAPEI premium mortar be used over AquaDefense?

Can I use mastic or a premixed tile adhesive over Mapelastic® AquaDefense? Ready-to-use tile adhesives, such as MAPEI’s Type 1™ mastic and Premium Mortar for tile and stone, require a porous substrate to cure properly. They should not be installed over waterproofing membranes.

Is waterproof membrane necessary?

If you are concerned about the tile grouting that could be penetrated by water when using the shower, then it is important to install a waterproof membrane. This material will act as protection and water will be diverted toward the drain which could also prevent the formation of mold.

How long does waterproofing take to dry before tiling?

It is not unusual to hear of a water-based membrane being applied one day and tiled the next day. However, the majority of water based waterproof membranes require a minimum of 48 hours prior to tiling.

How do you waterproof a drywall shower?

Can you put Redgard over joint compound?
