Like I said before, the Ektorp is not completely discontinued (yet). The gentleman at IKEA didn’t make it sound like it was going to be completely gone for good but you can only get the Ektorp in the Lofallet Beige color (and likely only online). The stores no longer carry the Ektorp sofa.

We were planning on sticking with Ektorp but, in October 2020, Ikea replaced their beloved Ektorp sofas with the new Uppland series.

Can you dye Ektorp sofa cover?
As it was filling up I added 1/2 bottle (1/2 Cup) of the navy dye and 1/2 bottle (1/2 Cup) of the black dye, and 1 Cup of salt. I let my machine agitate for a minute to mix and then I added my covers. As instructed, extended the wash an extra 30 minutes by resetting the cycle before it can rinse. Rinse in cold water.
Is Ektorp being discontinued 2020?

What is the difference between Ektorp and Uppland?
The Ektorp is made entirely of foam. The Uppland cushions are made of springs as well as foam. Because of this design change, the cushions on the Uppland should hold up longer because of the addition of springs.
Is the Ektorp sofa comfortable?
Comfort. The Ektorp sofa is comfortable even after 2 years of use. The cushions have not lost their shape and it still provides a cozy spot to curl up. When it comes to the sofa with the chaise it is even more comfortable.
Is IKEA Farlov discontinued?

Can you dry IKEA couch covers?
Although Ikea recommends only air drying an Ektorp couch cover, it can still be dried in a dryer if you use low heat settings. An Ektorp cover can be used over an Ikea Ektorp corner sofa. Although the cover is removable and machine washable, the care instructions advice not to tumble dry the cover.

How do you dye loose covers?
Here are the steps I took:
Wash covers completely – leave wet. Use Rit color remover according to package. Fill washer up with hot water (making sure the fabric can move freely) and add dye to the water along with 1 cup of salt dissolved in about 4 cups of hot water.Add covers to washer and agitate for 40 minutes.
