As humans lay dying, new research suggests that one crucial sense is still functioning: The brain still registers the last sounds a person will ever hear, even if the body has become unresponsive. A study released in June suggests that hearing is one of the last senses to disappear during death.

If you die in Valheim you will lose everything. No equipment (your silver gear, your trusty cape) and no meads or other items. This means the journey back to your tombstone is always going to be a difficult one, particularly if you died many miles from your base. It might be the case that you simply have to rebuild.

What happens to a body in a coffin?

If the coffin is sealed in a very wet, heavy clay ground, the body tends to last longer because the air is not getting to the deceased. If the ground is light, dry soil, decomposition is quicker. As those coffins decompose, the remains will gradually sink to the bottom of the grave and merge.

When you die, your body is transported to a morgue or mortuary. Depending on the circumstances of the death, an autopsy may be performed. The body is then typically transported to a funeral home for preparation for viewing, burial, or cremation.
