Except instead of printing your design onto a sheet of paper, a Cricut machine uses a small, movable blade to cut the design out of a sheet of paper (or other material.) First, you create a design in Cricut’s design software or app. Then, you send the design to the Cricut cutting machine via Bluetooth or USB.
It requires Windows 10, at least the 64-bit version. I would get a computer that can at least run Windows 10, 64-bit or higher. NOTE: You will need to switch any computer that comes in “S mode” to regular in order to run Cricut Design Space. There are instructions for doing so here.
Print and cut is a little different than your normal cutting of vinyl and iron-on vinyl. You actually need to use a printer along with your Cricut Explore Air or Cricut Maker.
Cricut has software called Design Space (available for Windows, MAC, tablet & iOs and Android smart phone) that allows you to create and import designs to cut with your machine. The Cricut houses a tiny blade (or rotary cutter, or pen, or scoring tool) inside.

With a Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore machine, you can use both Windows and Mac computers as well as Android or iOS devices. Both machines use Cricut Design Space to create designs your machine can use.

Design Space is free to use, and it’s not optional: it’s the only way to operate a Cricut machine. You do not need Cricut Access in order to use it. There is no ink used in Cricut cutting machines. The two best Cricut cutting machines are the Cricut Maker and the Cricut Explore Air 2. The Cricut Maker is the more recent and better of the two. So while Cricut machines can’t print, they can be used in conjunction with printers.
You can cut either wood on the Cricut Maker machine. Whichever you choose, just make sure it doesn’t have any knots. If a piece as a knot, make sure the knife blade will not have to go through the knot when cutting your pattern.
