DensGlass Sheathing is an ideal product for exterior ceilings and soffits for both cold and warm climate zones. It resists sagging, even under exceptionally humid conditions. Panels are applied directly to structural framing. Surface and joints may be finished and painted, or surfaced with an exterior finish system.
What is DensGlass?
DensGlass® is a gypsum panel with fiberglass mat facings and its widely recognized GOLD colored primer coating for superior mold and moisture resistance. For use as exterior substrate panel for walls, ceilings and soffits. Ideal for EIFS, brick and other exterior cladding applications.
Is DensGlass waterproof?
It is a ready-mixed, flexible, waterproof coating which can be used on gypsum, cement or wood based sheathing substrates. Sto VaporSeal over DensGlass panels can be used on vertical above grade walls.
Is DensGlass better than plywood?
Densglass takes the win in the majority of categories, including water resistance and fire resistance. It is also considered to be more durable, but plywood, on the other hand, isn’t prone to deformities due to humidity. However, when it comes to versatility, they’re pretty similar.
Can DensGlass be used on interior walls?
With their designed-in strength and moisture resistance, Dens® panels, when used on interior walls, deliver dimensional stability, moisture resistance and the highest level of performance for mould resistance under ASTM D3273 test method.
Can DensGlass be used on roof?
DensGlass Sheathing is appropriate for finishing the rest of the vertical surface above the membrane, but DensDeck Roof Board could also be used, so there’s only one substrate material to deal with.
Is DensGlass a drywall?

How do you attach DensGlass?
Fasteners should be driven flush with the panel surface (not countersunk) and into the framing system. Locate fasteners at least 3/8” (9 mm) from the ends and edges of the sheathing. Nails or screws, as listed in the fastener chart, may be used to attach DensGlass Sheathing to framing.
Does DensGlass need a vapor barrier?
It is not required to provide a water-resistive barrier over DensGlass Sheathing for the protection of the gypsum sheathing itself during the 12-month weather exposure limited warranty.
Does DensGlass need to be taped?
Tape is more traditional. If denseglass is your exterior sheathing, the best air barrier is taping the seams on it.
Does DensGlass have an R value?
R-Value (ASTM C518): 0.56.
What is DensGlass exterior sheathing?

You can install stucco over DensGlass for a long lasting finish. DensGlass exterior sheathing is a paperless board that prevents moisture wicking and the interior of your home from becoming exposed to the elements.
Can DensGlass be used as structural sheathing?
DensGlass panels also protect and help stabilize structural framing. DensGlass Sheathing is extremely resistant to rippling, buckling and sagging, even under humid conditions — which makes it particularly suitable for soffits.
Is DensShield fireproof?
No deterioration of the tiled wall and framing members due to water infiltration occurred. 5/8″ DensShield FireguardTM Tile Backer is fire rated for both 1-hour and 2-hour wall assemblies.
