Frame Spacers

Frame Spacers

Spacers keep the glass or acrylic glazing separate from the artwork. This is important for a number of reasons. However, if a mat is being used between the glass and art, spacers are usually not necessary, unless the art has texture that may still come into contact with the glass, despite the mat.

Why do my pictures stick to the glass in the frame?

Humidity is usually the main reason why pictures stick to glass. If the picture is placed in a frame that has no space between the glass and the picture (even a bit), this causes the picture to stick. This is especially common with glossy images.

What is a wood strainer?

A strainer bar is used to construct a wooden stretcher frame used by artists to mount their canvases. They are traditionally a wooden framework support on which an artist fastens a piece of canvas.

How do you stop a picture from touching the glass?

But if I had this objective, I would cut some very thin strips of mat that were just wide enough to fit in the space where the picture and glass fits under the overhang of the frame without extending out into the visible area. That might be enough to maintain a space between picture and glass, even in the center.

What are super spacers?

Super Spacer® is an insulating and energy efficient glass system. The edge spacers of these windows are made of all-foam construction with zero metal, giving them low conductivity. No other window spacers on the market today can offer this claim! Super Spacer® is made of 100% polymer structural foam.

What are the spacers on windows called?

Window glass spacers or space bars are strips of plastics, metals or foams that separate, support and help seal in functional gasses that are injected between the panes of glass in a window.

What are warm edge spacers?

Warm edge spacers work by separating the panes of glass in double or triple glazing and are made from low conductivity materials. The cavity created by the spacer reduces heat transfer across the center of glass, and the use of a warm edge spacer reduces thermal conduction across the opaque area at the edge of glass.

How do you separate a picture from glass?

The Hair Dryer – With your hairdryer on its lowest heat setting (not cold), blow warm air across the back of the print. Keep the dryer about 4–5 inches from the photo. Slowly and gently pull back a tiny corner of the unstuck photo. Continue the process until the entire photo is free from the glass.

How do you separate old pictures from glass?

HEAT – Using the low heat setting, take a hairdryer and blow warm air about 4-5 inches away from the back of the print. This heats up the area between the photo and glass and loosened the hold on the photo.

How do you remove old pictures stuck to glass?

Option 1 – Use a Hair-dryer

This will help loosen the part of the photo adhered to the glass. Slowly & gently pull at a corner or side of the photo, pulling it back until the entire photo is removed. You may need to alternate between heating and pulling to effectively remove the whole photo.
