Most ovens use a standard 40-watt incandescent appliance bulb, but others may require halogen bulbs up to 50 watts.

Can any light bulb go in an oven?

No, LED light bulbs do not have the heat resisting properties of a specialist light bulb designed to operate in the high temperatures of an oven. We recommend the use of a halogen or incandescent light bulb designed specifically for this purpose.

Why does my oven bulb keep burning out?

If a bulb doesn’t fit tightly into the housing, the electrical current has to jump or “arc” to make contact rather than simply flow through a physical contact. Arcing causes extremely high levels of heat, which is what causes the bulb to blow.

What is the difference between an appliance bulb and a regular bulb?

The difference between regular and appliance bulbs is that appliance bulbs are designed to withstand the extreme temperatures and conditions found in appliances. They have a stronger filament capable of withstanding vibrations and tend to be shatterproof too.

Are refrigerator and oven light bulbs the same?

Can you use A15 bulb in oven?

GE appliance A15 bulbs feature a rugged filament and stronger base cement versus standard light bulbs making them a great choice for hot and cold applications. Use these incandescent A15 bulbs with medium bases in appliances including ovens, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers.

Can you use regular bulbs in appliances?

You can use a regular light bulb in a refrigerator if it fits, but it is not smart to do so. There are bulbs specially made for refrigerators and these appliance bulbs handle lower temperatures better than standard bulbs and, they are often shatterproof too.

Yes, appliance bulbs are simply the standard size for most appliances. Glass has a ridiculously high melting point and the tungsten filament burns hot.

Can I use my oven if the light cover is broken?

The bulb, if it is rated to be used in an oven, will function without a glass cover. The reason for the tempered glass cover is to protect the bulb from damage due to pans and trays and also it keeps it clean from hot liquids.

Can I put an LED bulb in my refrigerator?

Using LED bulbs in fridges is possible and is very commonly done when replacing old, outdated incandescent bulbs. Be sure to get the correct base size, which will likely be E14, and ensure that the bulb’s shape fits well into the designated space.
