A pentagon is a flat 2D shape that has five sides and five vertices. The word “pentagon” comes from the Greek word “pentagonos”, which means “five-angled”. A regular pentagon has five internal angles that form corners.
What do pentagons look like?
A pentagon shape is a flat shape or a flat (two-dimensional) 5-sided geometric shape. In geometry, it is considered as a is a five-sided polygon with five straight sides and five interior angles, which add up to 540°. Pentagons can be simple or self-intersecting.
Is any 5 sided shape a pentagon?
A pentagon is a geometrical shape, which has five sides and five angles. Here, “Penta” denotes five and “gon” denotes angle. The pentagon is one of the types of polygons. The sum of all the interior angles for a regular pentagon is 540 degrees.
What is pentagon sides?
A pentagon is any polygon that has five sides and five angles. The root of the word pentagon is “penta” which comes from the Greek word for five. “Gon” comes from the Greek word for angle.
What shape has 5 sides 5 Corners?
A pentagon has five straight sides and five vertices (corners). It has five angles inside it that add up to 540°.
What objects look like pentagons?
Diamond. If you look at the two-dimensional projection of a diamond on a piece of paper, you can observe that its outer boundary consists of five sides and five corners. Hence, a diamond is clearly an example of pentagon-shaped objects in real life.
What are the different types of pentagons?
Types of Pentagons
Regular or equilateral pentagon: five equal sides and angles.Irregular pentagon: five unequal sides and unequal angles.Convex pentagon: no internal angle can be greater than 180 degrees.Concave pentagon: has an internal angle greater than 180 degrees causing two sides to “sink in” like a “cave”
