Why is AT&T sending out free phones?
We have not changed our plans to replace 3G network-dependent devices. However, inventory constraints mean we sometimes must find substitutes for some devices. In other words, the carrier is sending out random phones because that is what it has in stock.
Will AT&T give me a new phone if mine is broken?

If your device doesn’t have any physical or liquid damage, you can exchange your device under warranty. If it has physical or liquid damage and the device manufacturer won’t exchange or repair it, the damaged device isn’t covered by a warranty.
Does Asurion send new phones?
Once the insurance claim is approved you’ll be told if Asurion is electing to repair or replace the device— and you don’t get to have any say. If it’s the latter, they’ll ship it out to you overnight. A phone charger, battery, and a SIM card will be included. It may be new, or it may be refurbished.
Can you upgrade your phone if it’s cracked AT&T?
Yes, if your old phone is cracked but you’d still like to trade it in, AT&T will accept it. Bear in mind, however, as with most other trade-in options, it will drop your device’s trade-in value considerably.
