It is with great sadness that we announce Fire & Light is closing. Due to a number of factors, it is no longer financially feasible for the company to continue to operate without another significant investment of cash. At one point, Fire & Light glassware was carried in over 1,100 stores around the country.

What is Fire and Light?

Fire & Light made handmade glassware with recycled glass from 1996 – 2019. Everything was produced at our studio in Arcata, California. Our Seconds Sale Showroom is open every Friday-Saturday from 9am-5pm here at 45 Ericscon Court in Arcata. We feature sales every weekend on different items and different colors.

What is fire Light glass?

Studies. FireLite is a 3/16″ (5 mm) thick fire-rated glazing material. It is listed for use in non-impact safety-rated locations such as transoms and borrowed lites. “Art is science made clear.”

What is Robax glass?

SCHOTT Robax is a transparent ceramic glass that is extremely heat resistant. The combination of good optical transmission (including infrared, which we perceive as heat) and low thermal expansion make Robax an excellent choice for windows in heating devices. Robax also has good UV blocking characteristics.

What is a 45 minute door?

45 minute fire rated glass is used in fire protective doors, sidelites, transoms and openings that are tested to the following standards: NFPA 252, Standard Methods of Fire Tests of Door Assemblies.

What is keralite glass?

Produced by the joint-venture of Corning Inc. and Saint-Gobain, Keralite is a fully code compliant fire protective glass-ceramic able to resist high temperature and thermal shock.
