Why We Use Sed Command in Linux?
By using SED you can edit files even without opening them, which is much quicker way to find and replace something in file, than first opening that file in VI Editor and then changing it. SED is a powerful text stream editor. Can do insertion, deletion, search and replace(substitution).
What are the advantages of sed?
The advantage of sed is that you can specify all editing instructions in one place and then execute them on a single pass through the file. You don't have to go into each file to make each change. Sed can also be used effectively to edit very large files that would be slow to edit interactively.
What is sed in shell script?
Sed is a non-interactive line editor. It receives text input, whether from stdin or from a file, performs certain operations on specified lines of the input, one line at a time, then outputs the result to stdout or to a file. Within a shell script, sed is usually one of several tool components in a pipe.
