Students use a webcam to record themselves during an exam. A "startup sequence" guides them through requirements selected by the instructor, such as showing identification or making a short video of the exam environment. Only the instructor can review video recordings and the results of the proctoring session.

Can Canvas see what you are doing?

Ideally, Canvas cannot detect if a student opened new tabs in a web browser or opened a new application or web browser during a quiz or test. However, if proctored, Canvas will monitor and prevent student's browser activity. In such proctoring, the general interactions with the site can be viewed by professors.

Does Canvas record my screen?

You can record a screen capture video in Canvas Studio. Screen captures can be created from any page in your account. You can use the screen capture tool to record media for any length of time, depending on your computer's memory.
