What Items Cannot Be Cremated?

Materials that CANNOT be cremated include:

  • Metal.
  • Plastic.
  • Glass.
  • Clothes made from synthetic materials that may be hazardous to burn.
  • Electronic devices or implants such as pacemakers or hearing aids.

What doesn't burn when you are cremated?

You don't get ash back.

What's really returned to you is the person's skeleton. Once you burn off all the water, soft tissue, organs, skin, hair, cremation container/casket, etc., what you're left with is bone.

Can you be cremated with objects?

Personal items of the deceased, such as jewelry, watches or other items will be removed from the container and returned to the family with prior arrangement. Sometimes families request that items of significance be cremated with the deceased. In some cases this can be allowed, but in many cases it cannot.
