What Does E10 Mean on a Car?
E10 is regular unleaded petrol blended with between 9% and 10% ethanol. E10 is a safe and reliable fuel, compatible with the majority of petrol-powered cars on the road today.
Can I drive my car on E10 fuel?
The Government suggests that putting E10 petrol in a non-compatible car on a one-time basis should not result in your car's engine being damaged as a result. That said, it recommends avoiding prolonged use of E10 petrol in a non-compatible car as this can result in long term harm to the engine.
What happens if I run my car on E10?
If E10 fuel is put in an incompatible car, it will still run, according to the RAC, But in the long run, it could cause damage to rubber seals, plastics and metals. There have also been reports E10 is a less stable fuel, the RAC says.
