Squirrels sleep either in trees or in underground burrows at night. After a busy day of playing around, searching for and burying food, they retreat to their nests at night to sleep. Tree squirrels sleep in dens or nests at night.

Do squirrels come out at night at all?

All squirrels sleep at night except flying squirrels. Flying squirrels come out every night to look for food, gather nesting materials, play, mate, and take care of their young. Sometimes tree and ground squirrels wake up during the night and leave their nest, but this doesn't happen very often.

What time do squirrels go to bed?

Squirrels are diurnal, which means they're active during the day and get their sleep at night. During the light hours, squirrels will typically forage for food and water.
