HISTORY OF THE ORIYA LANGUAGE
The history of Oriya language is divided into Old Oriya (10th century-1300), Early Middle Oriya (1300-1500), Middle Oriya (1500-1700), Late Middle Oriya (1700-1850) and Modern Oriya (1850 till current day).
.
In respect to this, who is the father of Odia language?
Fakirmohan Senapati
Subsequently, question is, is Odia a language? ???? o?iā), formerly known as Oriya, is an Indo-Aryan language, mainly spoken in the Indian state of Odisha. Some parts of Odisha, mainly the Ganjam and Gajapati districts, also speak the Telugu language. The language is also an official language of India. There are about 33 million people who speak Odia.
In this way, which language is older Bengali and Oriya?
Yes, Indeed. Odia is much older than bengali . Odia as a language is a Classical language. It has largest number of words in its vocabulary than any Indo-aryan languages after Sanskrit.
Who discovered Odia?
Old Oriya (7th century-1200): The origin of the Oriya literature can be traced to "Bauddha Gana O Doha", otherwise known as Charyapada written by the Buddhist Siddhas of Orissa. The Oriya language begins to appear in inscriptions with Oriya scripts in temples, copper plates, palm-leaf manuscripts etc.
To my mind the first scientist of Odisha was Mahamahopadhyaya Samanta Chandrasekhar popularly known as Pathani Samanta. He was the famous astronomer from Khandapada known for his book 'Siddhanta Darpana'. He was awarded the title ' Mahamahopadhyaya' by the British Govt.
So i Must say , Bengali and Odia both are almost same , specially some odia words are similar to Bengali , odia is little bit more pronounced as tatsam(sanskrit) tone (In Bengali - rice is BHAAT /??? but in odia its BHAATO /???? , Fish is MAACH/??? in Bengali but in odia its ???? ).. writing scripts are different .
