Density is an intensive property in that increasing the amount of a substance does not increase its density; rather it increases its mass.
Does density change mass?
Density is the amount of mass located in a specific volume. The density of an object can change if either the mass or volume of the object is changed. Fluids, such as water, have a certain density. If an object is more dense than water, it will sink; if it is less dense than water, it will float.
Does the density affect mass and weight?
Another big difference between the two is that density calculates the intrinsic values of its components (mass and volume, which includes height, width, and length), while weight has an outside force as a component (gravity), and mass of the object.
