Mathematics is used widely in chemistry and are absolutely necessary to explore important concepts in chemistry. Without some basic mathematics skills, these calculations, and therefore chemistry itself, will be extremely difficult.
What kind of math is used in chemistry?
A solid understanding of algebra, trigonometry and diffrentiation/integration is necessary. More advanced topics which may be useful include partial derivatives, solving simple first and second order differential equations, solving partial differential equations, group theory, Fourier transforms.
Do chemists need math?
Chemistry most certainly does involve math and will become even more prevalent at the higher levels. Chemistry requires you to be good with numbers because you’re always converting between units (moles, atoms, grams, kilograms) and many equations will require fundamental algebra and the ability to manipulate equations.
