This occurs quickly in dry (low humidity) temperatures and if the water evaporates before the cement has fully hydrated, it can cause dry, soft and powdery render. The formation of concrete takes time, with a period of around 28 days for concrete to fully harden.

You should wait 4 to 6 weeks for render to cure. Render when drying is alkaline it with bleed this chemical through the surface as it drys.

How long for render to dry before floating?

Gently trowel smooth with a steel float. If you are applying more than one coat, you will need to let each coat dry for at least 3 – 7 days.
