Cyclamen plants like slightly acidic soil and can benefit from an acid fertilizer once a year. Too much fertilizer can cause lush foliage but not many blooms.
Will cyclamen grow in acid soil?
Cyclamen are best planted in moist, well-drained soil of chalk, clay, loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They prefer a position of part shade where the soil can be kept cool and moist. Cyclamen roots are non-competitive and will grow nicely amongst other plants and shrubs.
Do cyclamens like ericaceous compost?
Propagating Cyclamen Collect seeds immediately from pods that have burst and sow thinly in a ericaceous seed compost. Note: Cyclamen tubers do not produce offsets.
