Do Maple Trees Grow in Utah

General: Native from southern Idaho south to Mexico and east to Texas, including much of Utah in mountainous locations. This is the common maple that gives Logan Canyon and some other northern Utah locations their outstanding fall color.

Can sugar maple trees grow in Utah?

It can do well in Utah, but hasn’t been planted much in recent years. Some large specimens can be found in Logan and elsewhere. Avoid extremely hot, dry sites and very high soil pH.

Can you grow a Japanese maple in Utah?

Fertilizer. Japanese maples will grow in almost any soil pH but they prefer a soil with a slightly acid pH. Unfortunately we do not have acid soil conditions in Utah so you will need to make your soil more acidic. At planting time you can amend your soil with Acid Planting Mix to give your tree a quick start.
